Snow Characteristics Comments
Happy to find 4" at the trailhead, with up to 10"+ at the summit of Mt Aire.
New snow bonding well to old surface, which is saturated from recent warm weather and previos rain.
New snow entraing itself in steep locations, and more of a push alanche, that can run far.
Snow seemed right side up, starting with grapuel and ending with nice stellars.
Red Flags
Red Flags
Poor Snowpack Structure
Comments
Toured in the Mt Aire zone today. Lower elevations have even more poor coverage due to recent warm temps and rain.
However a nice reset for this zone, and travel was ok for low tide conditions.
On the upper ridges, you could see signs of previous wind loading, but not much of a slab existed in the new snow, probably because of the lower elevation.
Structure continues to be my main concern, and its still dictates my travel choices.
